You really think you’re good at multitasking? Is text-walking your favourite sport?<\/p>\n

We\u2019re sorry to burst your bubble, but you\u2019re probably not as skilled as you think you are!<\/p>\n

Recent studies conducted at HEC Montr\u00e9al have shown that humans are literally unable to walk while texting without losing much of their attention[1]<\/a>. Most importantly, please don’t cross the road while you’re texting and be even more cautious during the winter. You\u2019re gambling your<\/em> life and the lives of others<\/em>, and you most likely will lose\u2026<\/p>\n

In fact, you may be surprised to learn that companies like auto-giant General Motors are about to ban cellphone use in the hallways and stairwells of their offices. They are doing this because of an increase in the number of injuries caused by the notorious, and unfortunately growing, phenomenon of text-walking<\/em>. That\u2019s right! Employees have been injured by falling down stairs or bumping into each other while looking at their cellphones instead of looking straight ahead! Ouch.<\/p>\n

Are you tired of people stopping in the middle of the road or in the metro stairs to stare at their screen? You’ll be happy to know that more and more cities, such as Honolulu and Singapore, are joining a global phenomenon by handing out fines to pedestrians who look at their phones while crossing the street.<\/p>\n

When will these fines get to Quebec?<\/p>\n
