{"id":2597,"date":"2021-06-22T20:06:41","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T20:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.codetrauma.com\/?p=2597"},"modified":"2021-06-22T20:08:37","modified_gmt":"2021-06-22T20:08:37","slug":"vdomestic-violence-part3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.codetrauma.com\/en\/vdomestic-violence-part3\/","title":{"rendered":"Domestic Violence Part 3: Who Needs to Know the Signs of Domestic Violence?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codetrauma.com\/domestic-violence-it-doesnt-just-happen-to-others\/\">part 1<\/a> of our Domestic Violence series and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codetrauma.com\/domestic-violence-part-2-the-red-flags\/\">part 2<\/a> on Domestic Violence Signs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Everyone needs to be familiar with Domestic Violence signs and red flags, which we discussed in our previous article.<\/p>\n<p>Those who have never been in an abusive relationship need to recognize the signs. That way, they can act quickly if they or someone they care about are ever in a situation of abuse.<\/p>\n<h2>A Message to The Victims of Domestic Violence<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, those who are being abused need to know the signs so that they can stop denying the abuse and admit it to themselves. They need to get to a point where they stop feeling guilty and recognize that the abuse is not their fault. There is a long but necessary journey in accepting that it is the abuser\u2019s personality and shortcomings that have caused the situation, that they do not deserve this type of treatment, and that it is the abuser who is responsible for his or her behaviour. And they need professional help. If you turn a blind eye, you are part of the problem. Ladies, if one of your friends treats her or his partner this way, then you need to check their behavior and encourage them to seek counseling.\u00a0 Sadly, women are not the only ones abused, men are too.\u00a0 They are also less likely to admit it and to seek help.<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[ii]<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>WITNESSES, PLEASE CALL FOR HELP<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you ever witness abuse taking place or think you may be hearing abuse taking place through your walls or windows, please call the police for help on the person\u2019s behalf even if it is a regular occurrence. Especially if it is a regular occurrence\u2026 Call every single time.
