Longer days and warmer weather invite us to get outside, take walks in the neighborhood, tend the garden, and enjoy community activities. For many older adults, being active and connected is key to feeling well and staying healthy.<br \/>\nAt the same time, spring brings a few challenges that are worth keeping in mind to help prevent falls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring brings new hazards<\/strong><br \/>\nAs snow melts and weather changes, outdoor spaces can become less predictable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You may notice:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Cracked or uneven sidewalks<br \/>\n\u2022 Wet or slippery surfaces after rain<br \/>\n\u2022 Limited lighting in parks or pathways<br \/>\n\u2022 Gardening hazards like hoses, tools, and uneven ground<br \/>\n\u2022 Switching too quickly to less supportive footwear<br \/>\nSpending more time outdoors is wonderful, but it also increases exposure to these risks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staying active at your own pace<\/strong><br \/>\nPhysical activity is important at every age, and spring is a great time to get moving again.
